Depth Guild // Alliance // Blackrock

We tried Maexxna last week and had a few issues.  We started off this week a little shakey and then BAM, a 3% wipe.  We perservered on and got Samaria to tank since shield wall was on cool down.  After a few attempts of people getting used to healing someone other than myself (Marcus), everyone fluke healed and dps’d Maexxna down.

Congratulations Depth at fluke clearing the Spider Wing!  We had a quick crack at Noth and didn’t do too badly.  We’ll get him down next week.

Depth improved its progression this week by killing C’Thun first attempt (we fluke killed him yet again) and we set our eyes on Ouro and Naxxramas.  Although we haven’t quite gotten there yet with Ouro, we did move into Naxxramas Monday night to kill Grand Widow Faerlina.  It was of course a total fluke that we got her down.  We’re expecting that next week, we will fluke it yet again, along with C’Thun.

Marcus fluked himself up a pair of [Dreadnaught Bracers], Dreweth fluked himself a [Splinter of Atiesh] and Vaeralis fluked a pair of [Polar Shoulder Pads].

This week we fluke killed C’Thun yet again after our fluke kill last week.  Not only did we fluke kill it, but we fluke killed it on our first attempt.  More updates soon as we attempt to fluke kill bosses in Naxxramas!

We first started seriously attempting C’Thun about 5 weeks ago now.  Its something we wanted to do before venturing into Naxxramas by ourselves.  We got pretty close a couple of weeks back and could not repeat our great performance last week. 

Alas, we ventured into Ahn’Qiraj this week, probably the first week without a fucking server shut down during our prime-time on Wednesday and Thursday and made good progress on our first night of raiding.  Lots of people have been madly farming pots for C’Thun and tonight, we were rewarded with a kill.  Its been a long time coming, but Depth finally has gotten C’Thun down!  Well done and a good fucking job to everyone who helped to make it happen.  Some people were not there tonight and I wish you were.  Here is our awesome screen shot….

Didn’t really want to create a separate post for this.  We’re starting to push through Naxx now and although its a relatively easy boss, thought I’d post a kill shot anyway.  Anub’rekhan down for Depth also!

 

This has turned out to be the best progression week so far for Depth.  We re-visted Bug Family since that patch they got changed and killed them again on Saturday Night.  We followed this up with a C’Thun kill on Sunday Night and Monday Night Anub’Rekhan down.  A great week for everyone.

On the 23rd September 2005, Depth was formed by Aurela, myself (Marcus) and Shiggz.  We had the vision of having our own Australian based TZ guild.  I was originally in Eminence and as more and more content came out, I couldn’t raid with a guild which raided in the middle of Aus & US times.  My warrior was in Hitsquad at the time, Aurela’s paladin was also in Hitsquad and Shiggz was in Eminence 2 (Hitsquad prior to that).

Most of the foundation members consisted of guildies from a guild called Nightwatch which was run by Azz/Azzer/Azzler/….. etc etc.  Since that day, we’ve accomplished a lot as a guild.  Seen our share of people coming and going, including Shiggz.  Seen our share of eDrama (actually more than our share).

At the start, our main tank was Xarg, who left to form his own guild with IRL friends.  After this, I took on the role as Main Tank.  Ever since then, I’ve been waiting for those god damn bindings to drop and finally after running Molten Core for approx 10 months, Baron dropped one.  About a month later, Garr dropped the other.  Secro from Southern Cross got his a week before me and Xarg got his a week after me.  Congratulations go out to both of you.  Here is a SS of my ugly mug with Thunderfury (with the Vertex Shading off XARG!!)

I pretty much wanted all of this update to happen last weekend.  I wanted it to happen for when we kill(ed) C’Thun but I regret to inform that it has not happened yet.  We got close a couple of weeks back and got him to 23%.  Last week was pretty much a waste and we did not improve.  Spirits have been pretty low so I put the call out that we would be going into Naxx Sunday night instead of attempting C’Thun.  Much to my surprise, we actually had 40 people attuned and we entered Naxx by ourselves.  We had previously run very successful joint runs with Southern Cross.  Unfortunately, Emps and C’Thun came a priority for us as it did for them also so Naxx has been on the back burner until now.  We ventured in last night and clocked our first Razuvious Kill in a Depth only raid.

Hardly worth posting about as he is pretty easy but I had to put something up!!!  We also completed the quest for a few people who had previously gone on Southern Cross/Depth combined runs.  Congratulations to Coldkilla on getting his [Sandals of Faith] from a previous Southern Cross run.  Congratulations to those who received items from the first guild only kill:

Depth Member of the Year Competition 

I also wanted to add that we had a nominations and a poll for the "Depth Member of the Year".  We had a few nominations.  Guild Masters were exempt from this competition although Nero and Dreweth were allowed to be nominated as they had not been Guild Masters for that long.
